Colenso Country Cafe is available for Weddings and Private Events.

Our gardens and orchard make for a lovely backdrop for any occasion.

The site is suitable for groups of up to 80 using a marquee or stretch tent, with indoor seating more limited. We offer a casual, shared dining style of generous, wholesome and tasty food in keeping with our country location.

Off-site catering may also be possible depending on the time of year and your requirements. Perfect for when you need support for celebrations and gatherings. Platters, finger food, salads and more. We prefer to work with you to develop a menu that will suit your tastes and budget. Note that our off-site catering offer is deliver in or collection, and not a full turn-key service.

Note that venue hire and off-site catering is generally not possible from 27 December until the end of January.

FAQs

  • We charge a venue hire fee that covers general amenities.

    The hire fee varies depending on the time of year, the day of the week, event size and timing and the impact on regular cafe service.

    Should you decide that you’d like marquees, stretch tents, dance floors, night lighting, furnishings and other items, these are separate and additional costs. Usually we recommend or can guide you to specialist local companies for extras.

  • Yes the venue can be hired exclusively.

    The venue can be hired for an evening or for a daytime event.

  • We can comfortably host and cater for up to 80 people outdoors utilising a marquee.

    Indoor seating is more limited. Indoors is comfortable for 30-40 people with the external enclosed patio comfortable for a group of around 20 people.

  • We are happy to work with you to develop a menu that suits your tastes and budget.

    Onsite catering maximum capacity 80 people for a sit down meal.

  • Yes we are a licensed venue.

    We are happy to work with you to match wines and beverages to suit your taste, the event and your budget.

  • Meet “Flow”, a lovingly fitted out drinks caravan that we’ve found fits perfectly in the grounds and is a fun way to keep your party hydrated! She takes a keg, comes with an eclectic selection of glasses and can serve bubbles, wine, cocktails, mocktails and even ice cream!

    She is not ours but she may be available for hire. We provide the staff and we’ll liaise with the owners on a hire fee for Flow.

  • Peninsula Party Hire are a wonderful locally owned and operated company that can help you out directly. We have worked with Peninsula Party Hire for private functions so they know our grounds and what is possible.

    Peninsula Party Hire specialise in Wedding Marquees, Stretch Tents – and everything else you need to make your wedding a huge success! They stock dance floors, PA systems, lighting, heating, crockery, cutlery, glassware, bars, tables, chairs & more.

  • We make a range of beautiful, tasty cakes but this depends on what you are looking for on your special day.

    If you are looking for something more elaborate there are a several local specialist cake companies and pastry chefs that may be more suitable.

    We can cut your cake onsite for you for serving.

  • We can connect you with several local wedding photographers that you can select from for your special day.
